On Saturday, the 26th of November at approximately 10:46 am, the Fairview Fire District was dispatched for a reported fire at Eastern Metal Recycling in the Town of Poughkeepsie.   Upon arrival, Fairview Firefighters found a vehicle well involved with fire in the compactor at the site.   Firefighters were able to knock down the fire in the compactor/baler and then had the vehicle removed to continue extinguishment.

Agencies assisting at the scene included the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police.  Relocating to the Fairview Fire station was the Roosevelt Fire District.

There were no injuries to any fire service personnel. Fire service personnel and equipment left the scene approximately an hour after arrival.  The fire has been determined to be accidental.
