Fairview Fire District
258 Violet Avenue
Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
At approximately 12:19 pm, the Fairview Fire District was dispatched for an automatic alarm of fire at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital, located in the Town of Poughkeepsie. While enroute to the alarm, firefighters received an update from the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response 911 Center with a report from the hospital that there was smoke in the structure. Additional equipment was requested to the scene based on this updated information.
Fire fighters arrived to find a smoke condition in the common area of the building of the Cooke wing on multiple floors. After investigation, the smoke was determined to be coming from a common chase in the structure. The fire was extinguished. Air monitoring of the building for potentially dangerous gases was done throughout the incident and nothing was found.
Mid Hudson Regional Hospital did not go on diversion during the incident. The incident did not require the relocation of patients. Damage to the facility was kept to a minimum.
Assisting the Fairview Fire District at the scene was the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department and the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response. Assisting with another incident in the Fairview Fire District was the Roosevelt Fire District who then proceeded to relocate to the Fairview Fire Station for stand-by.
There were no injuries to firefighting personnel or staff/patients of the hospital. All units cleared the scene 2:02 pm.
